This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The fix for this issue will be available via PTFs. Please reference these APARs:
- AIX 6.1: IJ04469
- AIX 7.1: IJ04384 and IJ04406
- AIX 7.2: IJ04466
Some of the PTFs may not be available until the next service pack (SP) or technology level (TL) for that release. Check with IBM Support for availability dates.
Why not enable syslog on AIX?
Had a call with customer just now,
They clarified what they want:
- They want a way to know when critical daemons (they're assuming they'll only care about SRC controlled daemons) are started/stopped/restarted.
- Examples: 1) Know if apache daemon dies 2) Know if some daemon with a known security vulnerability that they have intentionally stopped has somehow started again.
Their statement is that syslog on linux will tell them this, and on windows they have a way to be alerted to this as well, so for those OSes these messages roll up into their QRadar fine.. only for AIX are they lacking these messages.
So if we have some way to do this with existing functionality, great! Else, if we agree to add some syslog messages when src detects daemon start/stop/restart, great!.
AIX audit subsystem was mentioned as a possible solution
