sh/ksh support for large files

/bin/sh is unable to handle large files. this causes problems with shell archives and other scripts that need to interface with large files where /bin/sh is used.

quite sure it is not a ulimit problem. ibm has verified that the problem is with sh/ksh not using proper calls to handle large files -- hence the evoverflow errors from call tracing. they have an internal item to fix this and that had no traction so they asked me to open the rfe. i had a compiled fix, however was told this doesnt cover all the needed changes and we would need to distro this to customers to get past our issue with large files.

Are you sure it's not a ulimit issue?

    ulimit -a probably shows a 2gb limit.

    See /etc/security/limits .
