tcpdump "-i any" option unavailable in AIX tcpdump

In tcpdump man page (https://www.tcpdump.org/tcpdump_man.html), we have option to provide "any" as interface (with -i flag), which allows us to listen to all available interface. While in AIX tcpdump(https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_aix_72/com.ibm.aix.cmds5/tcpdump.htm) we don't have any such option.

I was testing sctp feature, where i need to listen to multiple interfaces at a time since sometimes i need to perform sctp failover, which will transfer all the traffic from one interface to another interface.

Can we have "-i any" or anything similar which will allow us to listen to multiple interfaces in one go?

.IBM has evaluated the priority of this enhancement proposal relative to other future product content and determined that this RFE will not be pursued for a future product release

"tcpdump" is not the "native" promiscuous tool. That is /usr/sbin/iptrace.

from memory, about 15 to 20 years ago there was a different "extension" that was used to capture packets, depending on which program was used. "iptrace" has always, by default worked as "-i any" when no interface was supplied. On AIX, tcpdump has always looked for the "lowest ordered named interface", e.g., en1 and en2 are defined - tcpdump watches en1.

So, for your particular issue you could consider using "iptrace" to capture and "ipreport" to analyze.

    Hope this helps!
