Allow AIXPCM to health check closed luns

NEW FORMAT "PMR": TS001111225 (This RFE webform is expecting the old format and rejects the new one)

Requesting: Add the option for AIXPCM to perform path health checks on all attached multi-path storage regardless of status. This will permit the OS to restore all missing paths once they are available.

Following IBM's recommendation, we recently switched from using SDDPCM to native AIXPCM. Unlike SDDPCM, AIXPCM by design does not perform path health checks on closed luns such as those on varied-off volume groups, or on ASM luns attached to a non-primary lpar in an HACMP configuration. As a result, temporary path outages to these luns due to activities such as SAN maintenance remain 'missing' until the lun is opened or a manual health check is performed. AIX commands like 'lspath' show these paths missing until they are manually checked, or opened.

RFE to be addressed in next AIX 7.2 technology level tentatively planned for 4Q19. The RFE can be updated with additional details once IBM has made a formal announcement (RFA) of the availability of the new AIX 7.2 technology level.

Customer is requesting update status given 4Q19 is around the corner and AIX releases are tentative for Nov 2019.

This is currently a candidate for inclusion in the next AIX 7.2. technology level planned for 4Q19. The RFE will be updated again when this content is committed to the releases.

Is it possible to get an ETA on this RFE in FY19? The lack of this functionality makes path verification more difficult during maintenance operations like PowerVM upgrades, SAN Storage Array Firmware Upgrades, and SAN Switch Firmware Upgrades. Our group needs to manually check closed luns's paths to see if any paths are missing after these maintenance activities. This is especially worrisome in our production PowerHA clusters.

We have proposed enhancements to a 2019 release of AIX to address the issues described in this RFE. We are not yet a the phase in our planning process where we consider this to be committed release content. We should have a view of 2019 committed plan content toward the end of this year. We do acknowledge that aixpcm should be enhanced to include capabilities currently included in sddpcm and this is being taken forward as a serious plan inclusion candidate for 2019.

AIX development is evaluating functional differences between AIXPCM and SDDPCM and considering AIXPCM enhancements for a future release of AIX
