This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Per Networking I/O Development, we do not have an ethernet-adapter based optics dbM measurement tool for AIX other than diagnostics run with wrap plugs to verify the card and its gbic modules.
However, per Development, it's not out of reason to request this as a feature.
With this said, we would like to suggest that DTNA submit an RFE request (Request for Enhancement). This is something the customer has to submit ( we can't submit).
The request would be as follows:
Request to AIX Development:
Requesting an enhancement to have an Ethernet adapter-based optics dBm measurement tool for AIX while the customer is in configuration steps of their network.
We need to be able to perform diagnostics on these NICs cards (i.e. F/C EN0S) that will provide us light levels ( incoming and outgoing) on the SFPs
Example use Case
1. Fiber optic cable is tensioned around a corner below minimum bend radius, resulting in low TX/RX dBm
2. Fiber optic cable end is contaminated and needs cleaning, resulting in low TX/RX dBm
