Available in the December 2021 GA of AIX 7.3
IBM intendeds to address this RFE in a future release of AIX. We are unable to comment on additional release specifics (name and GA date) until such time as the release has been announced.
Is it right that next AIX7.2 version will include Python ?
Hello
Java and Perl are part of the BOS, why not Python ? Today Python are the first programming language used to automate a large of tasks with Ansible.
We install a fresh AIX for several clients and never the context are similar. So, we install Python + YUM on post install from repo and are not easy because version changes for several AIX versions.
Python
.Python for AIX is provided from AIX toolbox (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/aix-toolbox/alpha.html).
We would like to understand what is the need of python in base AIX.
It can be installed from AIX toolbox and an AIX images (mksysb or OVA) can be created for deployment.
Why current AIX toolbox provided python can not be used for deployment ?
The AIX toolbox delivery mechanism is more agile and we deliver newer version and security fixes promptly.
