Request for SMB4 version to be available within the next Web download pack program or AIX expansion pack update

Due to the incompatibility of the Unix SMBCLIENT OUTBOUND connections using SMB2 protocol to systems using SMB3 protocol we require a compiled and packaged
version of Samba >= 4.0.0.

    Samba version 4 was released to the AIX Toolbox in 2016, and as of today is now available at version 4.3.11. Please visit the "AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications" web page to download the latest Samba for AIX.

    Samba 4.3.8 was delivered on the 'AIX Web Download Pack'.
    Future: There are plans to now keep it reasonably current, though we also intend to move it from the Web Download Pack to the 'AIX Toolbox' freeware site, given that it is 'as-is' open source freeware and would have the advantage of being able to install/manage via yum.
