Make AIX shared lib cache transparent to the user/application

When replacing a shared lib on the filesystem you receive a "Text file busy" error even though no active process is using the shared library.

AIX documentation states:
Note: If the module being loaded has read-other permission, the module is loaded into the global shared library segment. Modules loaded into the global shared library segment are not unloaded even if they are no longer being used. Use the slibclean command to remove unused modules from the global shared library segment.

While the user or application doesn't care if the library remains loaded it has to be able to replace it on the filesystem. The library cache has to be transparent to the user/application in any cases, like on all other operating systems.
Also you are able to remove or rename the lib on the filesystem while its loaded, so why am I not able to replace it then?

# cp testfile dw_abp.so
cp: dw_abp.so: Text file busy

but
# rm dw_abp.so
or
# mv testfile dw_abp.so
works.

The consequence to the cache of removing or renaming the file is the same as replacing it, it has to reload it on next access.

A solution is in process for the next planned AIX TL release. A change has been designed so that the shared library will no longer appear with an ETXTBSY errno, unless another process is still actually using it. This will allow it to be replaced when otherwise unused.
