The performance of the following ksh93 script is unacceptable:

if [[ "${s}" == *([!=])[=]*(*) ]]; then

else

print "No match:" ${s}
fi

If you change variable s as follows:
s="a=1"
it runs quickly, but as you increase the length of s as follows:
s="a=1234"
s="a=123456789"
s="a=123456789-1234"
s="a=123456789-123456789"
s="a=123456789-123456789-1234"
s="a=123456789-123456789-12345678"
the execution time goes up exponentially (not linearly)

    IBM has evaluated the priority of this enhancement proposal relative to other future product content and determined that this Idea will not be pursued for a future product release
