AIX mksysb not work on rootvg disk with multiple paths

1. Before backing up system we are required to run pprootdev fix . If you do not execute this command, backup process will fail right away.
2. After running pprootdev fix, we back up host using mksysb;
3. Because the AIX OS is not currently designed to deal with duplicate paths to devices without third-party software support, before starting the restore process you must reduce the number of paths to your boot device to one.
We would be at risk during this process, should SAN Path fails from IBM AIX Server to EMC Storage. It is due to single path to rootvg disk is in place during mksysb operation.

    At this time, AIX does not have plans to address this RFE. Suggest transitioning to MPIO (PCM) for EMC multipathing as the approach to use.

    A solution is acknowledged to be of some value and will be given consideration for plan inclusion in future planning cycles. No commitment is made to deliver the RFE.

    PowerPath, HDLM, and legacy SDD are all bypassing the standard AIX way to handle multiple paths in the kernel.

    The IBM direction has been MPIO for quite some time. You should install the EMC ODM fileset and remove PowerPath.
