ipfilter (resulting from Case TS001442267)

"There is a limitation, ipsec filters ( mkfilt) and ipfilter can not be used at the same time since they will replace the ip hooks which was being used by either of them. This will result in ipfilter/ipsec(mkfilt ) non functioning."

This is a request to lift the limitation so that both ipsec filters and ipfilter can be used at the same time on AIX, or to make that cfgmgr command does no longer launch mkfilt command.

We use ipfilter as a software firewall on our servers.
We do not use ipsec as a software firewall.
The command cfgmgr (used to discover new 2107 or 2145 devices) launches mkfilt command, which freezes ipfilter.
The cfgmgr command should not launch mkfilt command.

    ipfilter is not a strategic technology for AIX. IBM has evaluated the priority of this enhancement proposal relative to other future product content and determined that this RFE will not be pursued for a future product release
