Automate Oracle migration from 12c to 19c using Ansible inside VM

We have 1000+ Oracle 12c which normally demand for totally new environments (install 19c and do DB work) for migration work 12c to 19c. Allocating new environments (VMs) is time consuming and resource consuming (cost in labour and hw/sw) so I would like to see how Oracle can be migrated from 12c to 19c inside a VM (on AIX) and then automated via Ansible. Our Oracle DBs use ASM storage, and are fully virtualized.

    Ansible collections for AIX are managed and made available outside of the base AIX releases. The IBM RFE, and now Ideas, process is not used with the AIX Ansible collection.


    The AIX collection at Ansible Galaxy provides freely available content as-is without any support. It can be found at

    https://galaxy.ansible.com/ibm/power_aix


    The collection is also available in RedHat Automation Hub with formal support for subscribers to the RedHat Automation Platform.


    Users are welcome to submit suggested improvements and new use cases for the AIX collection at

    https://github.com/IBM/ansible-power-aix/issues

    IBM will consider these inputs in future efforts. Users are also welcome to contribute code fixes, new modules, and roles as pull requests. IBM will review and consider incorporating them into the collection.

    Ansible assets for Oracle use cases are provided by a different IBM team and not AIX development. Request for new use cases can be submitted as issues to
