We normally use AIX Live Update for patching all our lpars including production servers. We have Oracle applications which have more than 64K sockets open during operation, which is currently unsupported by AIX live update (LKU) procedure, because there is a single fd helper process involved to move the workload and that will hit max open files per proces limit. Such a limit can thus only be bypassed by spawning addtional fd-helpers which might also improve the performance of the LKU.

Live update is crucial for our patch mangement.
This behavior blocks us now for updating Oracle database servers via Live Updates.
Greetings Christian Sonnemans.
Very important indeed, hope IBM will pick this up a.s.a.p.!
