This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. Trying to migrate my NIM server from AIX 7.1 to 7.2. When I boot from the AIX 7.2 DVD Iso image, using the Virtual Library from the Vios, it goes well up until I start the migration itself... At the very first step the migration fails with the following message:
0516-1775 varyonvg: Physical volumes hdisk0 and hdisk4 have identical PVIDs (00cdc0334d8c16a1).
This is happening because the LUNS are provided via Netapp Storage and there is no MPIO support for NetApp LUNs during a DBD BOS Installation. As Result, the paths are being interpreted as separeted LUNS, but then there is the PVID conflict.
There are workaround to solve this, like disabling Paths on Storage Side, but I think IBM should provide MPIO support to the major Storage Solutions in such situations.

Please reopen this case - sample NetApp hardware could be AFF A300 cluster and netapp software version 9.9.1
Please indicate the specific model of NetApp storage product being used.
At the very least, these should show as “Other FC MPIO Disk” like some other non-IBM vendors' LUNs.
Having to dezone, unmask, or build a custom LPPSOURCE just for install or migration is a bit cumbersome.
