Automatic increase of maximum allocation value during resize of JFS2

During expansion of a file system the following error may occur:


# chfs -a size=+100G /myfs
0516-787 extendlv: Maximum allocation for logical volume myfs_lv
        is 512.


In this case administrator must manually execute chlv -x <some value> myfs_lv and then expand the file system again. Most of the time it doesn't make any sense, just one more step to tell junior administrators, what they should do in case of the error.


Add automatic expansion of maximum allocation value during chfs operation. If administrator wants to expand the file system, (s)he wants to increase the maximum number of LPs in the logical volume too.

    For flexibility, how about some other options for expanding max alloc (similar to chfs increasing fs)?
    a) new absolute value for max alloc (e.g. 512 to 640, similar to what is done with chlv -x now)

    b) incremental value to add to current max alloc value (e.g. +10 increases from 512 to 522)

    c) padding value (i.e. increase max alloc value such that there x LPs free)
