To use IBM DB2, we need to configure the /etc/hosts file as follows:
x.x.x.x nimmaster.ss.local nimmaster
Due to this configuration, when registering the NIM client, it gets registered as nimmaster.ss.local instead of nimmaster, which results in the NIM client backup not being performed.
If we modify it to:
x.x.x.x nimmaster
then the NIM client will be registered as nimmaster, and the backup will be executed successfully.
Through case TS016333763, we requested to add an alias in the /etc/niminfo file configuration, but we were informed that nimsh is hardcoded to use only the hostname.
"It's a good idea, but currently it's by designed that NIMSH only uses the hostname but not the alias, it's hard-coded in the nimsh program."
We equest that the alias be registered in the niminfo file so that it can become nim operation without modifying /etc/hosts, as follows
export NIM_HOSTS="127.0.0.1:loopback:localhost X.X.X.X:nimclient:alias X.X.X.X:nimmaster.ss.local:alias"
Thanks.
