NIM client to allow you to specify the IP address to use for NIM configuration, and support multiple IP addresses on an interface

Currently NIM only allows you to specify the network interface when running 'niminit', not the IP address on that interface. This legacy design was OK until the recent NIM SSL security fixes - where NIM is now making assumptions to use the first IP address and DNS name when creating certificates, which are now required for secure NIM communication.

If the IP address automatically chosen does not match the client host name defined in DNS on the NIM master, or its IP address, or have a route defined to the NIM server, 'niminit' now fails.

PowerHA clusters in particular can have multiple IP addresses bound to an interface as aliases by design.
