AIX 7.3 FC stack enhancement for SAN environments using Simplified, TDZ or Smart zoning.

In modern SAN environments leveraging Simplified zoning, Target Driven Zoning or Smart Zoning, AIX or VIOS Fibre Channel ports may be exposed in fabric query responses alongside other targets.Under certain conditions this results in initiator‑to‑initiator login attempts and subsequent FC errors logged in AIX errpt. While these errors are non-disruptive and do not indicate functional impact on the SAN or AIX/VIOS host, they introduce:Operational noise in system logsMonitoring and alerting challengesIncreased administrative overhead to triage non-actionable eventsCurrent mitigation options are not considered viable in modern enterprise environments:Disabling FDMI functionality on AIX is not fully effective and reduces SAN visibility and manageability.Reverting to traditional 1:1 initiator‑target zoning or 1:many initiator-to-targets zoning is impractical, as it requires significant SAN redesign and conflicts with widely adopted vendor‑recommended industry practices (Smart Zoning / TDZ), especially in large-scale deployments. The current request is for an enhancement to the AIX FC stack ensuring error-free or noise-free operation and proper handling of discovery operations in modern zoning environments, compatible with the FDMI functionality.

Yes, this idea appeals to me (us); it indeed prevents many false positives during monitoring and debugging. Thank you, Lyudmila, for bringing up this idea.
