RELATED IDEAS

Test the presence of /var/spool/qdaemon and /var/spool/lpd/qdir directory before the qdaemon service starts

We want to have the qdaemon scripts/program testing the availability of /var/spool/qdaemon and /var/spool/lpd/qdir before the qdaemon service starts.
If the directories are not present then daemon should not start.
Can it be done by IBM labs as an improvement of the qdaemon service ?

    IBM has evaluated the priority of this enhancement proposal relative to other future product content and determined that this RFE will not be pursued for a future product release

    Thanks for your feedback but can you please elaborate on your advice as to what script to we need to add in inittab to resolve our issue ?

    This change does not seem like something that would be universally good for all systems.

    For your systems, why not modify the inittab line for qdaemon to run a script that checks for these directories?
