Hi Karol,
Option to add/remove Virtual FC adapters in VIOS is available with HMC V9 R2 M950
Thanks,
Enhancement to support DLPAR of Virtual SCSI/FC adapters from GUI is being planned for a future HMC release.
I had a problem with LPM (you can refer to PMR 21970,SGC,820). After all, when LPMs problem were fixed, I had one correct running machine and two LPARs to delete. I deleted them (from GUI) - but relevant virtual adapters from VIOS has not been deleted.
Also, once a day I generate scripts to restore machine in case of accidental deletion or hardware failure. When I need to create machine from this simple backup, I just run commands from CLI. Client LPAR is created correctly. In Classic GUI I just had to create (using DLPAR) virtual adapters on VIOS and map them. Now, I cannot do this in Enhanced+ GUI.
Hi,
In the case of client adapter deletion - do you use the UI to unmap the FC port or storage from the partition or is the client adapter deleted through the CLI? Can you please explain more on changing Adapter ID's , because changing ID of an adapter dynamically (when vios is active), is not supported currently with Classic UI or CLI also.
On a side note, we introduced a new option in V8 R8.7.0 SP1 to clean up the Virtual IO Server mappings when deleting a partition.
Thanks.
