CMC to display available and used ECOD processor days

Several of my customers extensively use Elastic Capacity on Demand on/off processor days for general usage on E880C Enterprise servers configured with eight permanently active of 192 core E880C systems.

They experience a challenge in monitoring the usage, availability and future forecasting of ECOD processor needs.

Lab Services have assisted some customers in developing scripts to obtain the required information from the HMC using ssh and saving to a file which they view in Excel.

I know one case where this information feeds into an Enterprise Monitoring solution and other customers are interested in doing something similar.

As IBM's POWER solutions are becoming more cloud-like having the appropriate interfaces to manage and monitor resources and activations across an enterprise is important. To enhance CMC to include the ECoD capability would be a would bring great value to clients.

Traditional Elastic CoD management is important for existing systems. We need to add also the new "Power Virtual Capacity" method (4586-COD) that is currently the only valid method to manage Elastic CoD for new systems.
