Power HMC User Interface

The browser interface to the Power HMC console has restrictions not clearly identified the various manuals, technotes, etc. For example, you cannot open a 5250 console session when using the browser interface. That option is dropped when the user is using a browser. It would be self-explanatory if the option was greyed out. If the user clicked it anyway, a message could be displayed stating that the option is not available while using the browser interface.

    The documentation at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/TI0003N/p8hb8/connecting5250.htm does have 2 topics, one for local and one for remote. Does that address your concern or question?

    Hi,

    The 5250 console can be accessed remotely, but would need an emulator on the machine from which the HMC is being accessed. Please see the documentation at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/TI0003N/p8hb8/remote5250.htm. Does that address your question/concern?
