This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Hi,
The auto generation of WWPN's is done by the Hypervisor currently. From FW930, there has been an enhancement to check duplicate WWPN's when a new wwpn is autogenerated i.e., if the user assigned two WWPNs manually, and then later let auto-pick two WWPNs, Hypervisor will attempt (32 times) to find a non-duplicate pair of WWPNs based on its WWPN root. If it is successful, Hypervisor will give non-duplicate WWPNs. If PHYP tries 32 pairs and cannot find a non-duplicate, Hypervisor will fall back to its pre-FW930 behaviour of assigning a duplicate. With this enhancement auto generation of WWPN's will try to avoid duplicate with an existing assigned wwpn within a system. Please note that the check during auto-generation is done against the wwpn's assigned to the adapters at lpar level and not at profile level. Does this address your requirement?
Thanks.
