Authenticate HMC access against membership in LDAP group

Currently authenticating against LDAP requires each allowed user to be defined on each HMC and requires manual maintenance. Allowing access to be granted based on membership in an authorized LDAP group would allow security to be managed automatically using centralized enterprise tools.

Please see comments in previous sequence. If the functions mentioned in the previous note doesn't solve the requirement, please re-open with more details on the requested enhancements to the existing LDAP auto manage function.

    Hi,

HMC already does support LDAP groups. You can use the chhmcldap command to configure the groups to provide access and also enable automanage so that you don't have to create the user in each & every HMC.

Please refer to the chhmcldap command man page for automanage and hmcgroups options (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/POWER8/p8edm/chhmcldap.html). Also, please refer to https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/groups/community/powerhmc for Blog and files on LDAP related config.

Please let us know if this addresses your problem or if the requirement is different than the ldap groups.

    Thanks.

What is the status of this request? Intent is to be able to use z/OS LDAP (RACF or Top Secret) as the backend store for the security.
