HMC Scanning Tool

HMC Scanning Tool - HMC is a black box with no IBM or third party tool we are aware of. IBM should develop a scanning software which can scan HMC and report the vulnerabilities found.

PowerSC profile integration with HMC will be available in future release. By using PowerSC profile customers will be able to harden security policy on HMC. Please let us know if it will address the requirement.

Additionally, HMC's ansible collection is also planned to be enhanced in future for security policy. Please let us know if you would like anything to be added there. link to HMC collection of ansible: https://ibm.github.io/ansible-power-hmc/ thanks

Thanks for the additional details. From the previous comments, looks like you would like to have specific settings in the HMC and have a tool monitor for compliance and report if there are any changes.

    Hi,

No, We are looking for a security scanning tool for HMC which can run at a certain interval and lists the vulnerabilities found.
    For example,
    1) Any taskrole / permissions changes, user id creation / deletion, any config changes etc. Suppose, if someone has created a user with full rights temporarily and forget to remove that user, there should be a tool which runs at a certain interval, scan and report such user.
    2) Suppose we have any user with permission to collect some data from HMC, and anyone changes the profile may be add more permission or add different taskrole, it should alert us so we are aware of the changes.
    3) Anything related to drift reporting should be done using this tool.

    Thanks & Regards.
    Manish.

    Hi,

From the description below, looks like you are looking for a tool or mechanism to apply a security profile and making sure that the HMC settings match the security profile and not for a security scan tool. Can you confirm on the understanding of the request and also please provide more information on some more settings you would like to monitor at a HMC level?

    Thanks.
