This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

We just completed our test system migration using the GUI LPM. It was smooth as [Deleted] and worked like charm. One major drawback. The partition ID changed and not under our control. Thus new partition on target system comes up with random Lpar ID. Most of the 3rd party software running on our IBM i are Serial number and Lpar ID specific. To keep everything ready we determined that we want to go to a specific number. However, it looks like there is no provisioning to go to specific Lpar ID from GUI screen. Rest of the things are pretty darn smooth except the LPAR ID.
It would be very useful if we can process the target LPAR ID (like an override in migration LPM GUI screen) instead of LPM taking charge of it on the fly. Or alternative is to warn the users during validation as which next LPAR ID would the new LPM will take. And hopefully it will stay the same during actual migration if no partitions were created in meanwhile. The 3rd party vendor does not like to be surprised at the last moment.
