"Create Command-line"/"Schedule Operations" for VIOS backup/restore tasks via HMC

I want to utilize the new VIOS backup/restore option in the HMC. However, it currently only supports this via the GUI - I would like a way to schedule this operation and/or run a command-line command to do this so I can automate these tasks.

From Case:
VIOS backup/restore tasks via HMC are GUI only tasks for now there is no native HMC command line to achieve that for now.

Technically the backup operation when performed from the HMC is going to call backupios/viosbr to initiate the backup of VIOS then try to scp the backup from the VIOS to the HMC under /data

    Hi Matt,

    Support for Command line support for VIOS backup/restore and ability to setup scheduled operations for VIOS configuration backups is added with HMC V10 R1 M1010.

    What's new in HMC V9 R2 M950
    • Provides an option to initiate VIOS IO Config backup, save backup in HMC and restore at later point
    • Provides an option to initiate VIOS full backup and save in HMC
