This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Pushing use of REST APIs as the only option outside web interface for access/change to specific newer fields when most other LPAR attributes are available CLI is not enough in my opinion. Making use of REST API is great to take advantage of built-in error checking and processes, but is much more involved than using the existing CLI commands we have available.
I have intended to have a look at the API for use with making changes, but it takes time and effort I currently don't have available. Also, I have not yet found documentation with full API details defined. This is required to make proper use of an API. The link given below gives an intro, but not the full API spec as far as I can tell. I know lab services tools like CPT make use of it and we have those in use, but that code is written by lab services. For me CLI is currently the only option for quick queries and changes.
Hi Tom,
Marking this as delivered as per previous comments.
Thanks.
Nevermind... I found https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/power8?topic=interfaces-hmc-rest-apis
thanks you can close this request, you already support it.
Ah... Thanks! they didn't tell me that, they said it was only available via the web.
you wouldn't know where to find docs on the HMC REST API interface would you?
Hi Tom,
The description field is readable/settable via HMC Rest APIs. Please let us know if that addresses your requirement .
Thanks.
