Manage Virtual Storage new GUI

The feature of re-map virtual fibre channel removed on the new hmc V10 R3, I think this feature is very important in the troubleshooting and physical port failure scenarios.

in other words if there is a port failure from Power side , from storage side or the physical cable defaced, the reallocation process must be done quickly specially if it is on production environment.

    Hi Team, the option to adjust the physical adapter assignment of a virtual fibrechannel adapter was possible from the VIOS "manage virtual storage" task which was removed in v10R1 and added back on PTF MF71713 "M1061.1" :

    • Added the Manage Virtual Storage task back to the old dashboard. To launch the Manage Virtual Storage task, on the All Virtual I/O Servers view select the Virtual I/O Server, then click Actions > View All Actions > Manage Virtual Storage.

    Then the task became not available with removing the old dashboard in v10R3 and now there is no equivalant task to do the same from the HMC carbon GUI.

    In case a physical fibrechannel failed or need to be changed, the virtual fibrechannel have to be recreated from the HMC using the other physical FC adapter or manually adjusted from the VIOS CLI using vfcmap commands.

    The option to adjust the physical FC assignment was widely used and is currently missing on v10R3 and v11.

    Thanks for valuable feedback , Would you please provide more info in the form of old HMC screenshot or the function you are referring. It will be helpful to re-assess , we can also suggest the means of doing from HMC.
