Create serviceable events support for all Power Systems not only Power 11

ich beziehe mich auf die kürzlich veröffentlichte Funktion zur Erstellung von Service-Cases direkt über das HMC-Interface.

Diese Neuerung ist ein hervorragender Schritt, um die Fehlerbehebungszeiten zu verkürzen und den Prozess der Datensammlung zu zentralisieren. Allerdings ist uns aufgefallen, dass diese Funktion aktuell exklusiv für Power11-Systeme freigegeben ist.

Da in vielen Rechenzentren – so auch in unserem – noch eine signifikante Anzahl an Power9- und Power10-Systemen im produktiven Einsatz ist, möchten wir anregen, diese Funktion auch für diese Vorgängergenerationen verfügbar zu machen.

Gründe für die Erweiterung:

Einheitliche Administration: Ein konsistenter Workflow für alle verwalteten Systeme (unabhängig von der CPU-Generation) reduziert die Fehleranfälligkeit.

Effizienzsteigerung: Die manuelle Erstellung von Cases und der separate Upload von Log-Dateien für ältere Systeme binden Ressourcen, die durch die Integration in das HMC-Interface eingespart werden könnten.

Investitionsschutz: Da Power9 und Power10 weiterhin kritische Workloads tragen, ist ein modernes Service-Handling auch hier von hohem Wert.

Wir würden uns freuen, wenn Sie die Hardware-Einschränkung für dieses Feature überdenken und eine Implementierung für Power9/Power10 in einem der nächsten HMC-Updates prüfen könnten.

I am writing to you regarding the recently released feature for creating service cases directly through the HMC interface.

This enhancement is an excellent step toward reducing resolution times and streamlining the data collection process. However, we have noted that this functionality is currently exclusive to Power11 systems.

As many data centers—including ours—still have a significant number of Power9 and Power10 systems in production, we would like to strongly suggest making this feature available for these previous generations as well.

Key reasons for this expansion:

Unified Administration: A consistent workflow across all managed systems, regardless of CPU generation, minimizes the risk of administrative errors.

Increased Efficiency: Manually creating cases and performing separate log file uploads for older systems consumes valuable time that could be saved through HMC integration.

Investment Protection: Since Power9 and Power10 continue to run critical workloads, modern service handling is just as vital for these platforms.

We would appreciate it if you could reconsider the hardware restrictions for this feature and evaluate an implementation for Power9/Power10 in an upcoming HMC update.
