Update to BRMS - Work with Items to Omit from Backup - Granular Exclusions

Once we upgraded to V7R1, I experienced an issue where I would receive the following errors in the BRMS log (detailed in the PMR):

CPF3761 20 Cannot use *USRSPC QGLDLOCK in QUSRDIRDB.

I cannot easily exclude this... and my only recourse is to exclude in the GUI (iSeries Navigator...etc). OTher recourses are to totally restructure my backup for this 1 file.... which really shouldn't be necessary.

I'm requesting for V7R1 and later releases to be able to not only exclude libraries in the "Work with Items to Omit from Backup"... BUT ALSO be able to exclude these objects in a granular fashion... such as *USRSPC QGLDLOCK in QUSRDIRDB... instead of having to fully change how we omit objects and restructuring our back up.

I have at least 4 LPARS with this problem.

    Hi Mr. Wade!
    In 7.2 and above BRMS has added object omits to the object lists including *ALLUSR *INC and then you can *EXC any object....however, not for 7.1.

    In 7.1, you might be able to stop the LDAP instance which is causing the lock and then not have any problems.
