TN5250 and IBM i Access for Web support for SAML Authentication

System: IBM i Access for Web
Actor: Web users of IBM i Applications

IBM i Access for Web is a Websphere application that provides 5250 web emulation for IBM i hosted applications. It already provides support (via Websphere) for Kerberos SSO, but it does not support SAML SSO (due to a limitation in the underlying TN5250 terminal emulation), and users that have been authenticated successfully within Websphere using SAML SSO are still presented with a 5250 sign on screen by IBM i Access for Web. This means that sites using SAML are not able to include IBM i applications accessed via IBM i Access for Web within the scope of SSO implementations.

Use Case:

System: IBM i Access for Web
Actor: Web users of IBM i Applications

Use cases for the system:

Launch application

Scenario: Launch applications hosted on IBM i
Web enabled with IBM i Access for Web
SAML Single Sign On

After further consideration, we have decided to decline this RFE at this time.
