This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have a problem with a V5R4M5 lpar where we need to import a CA certificate which expires after January 19th 2038. The CA certificate signed a certificate request made from this lpar. That is not possible. I can see that there are ptf's to V6R1M*, V7R1 and V7R2 which solve the problem.
Apars:
SE63030, SE63257, MA45022, SE63029
We have extended support for V5R4M5 - is it possible to get ptf's for
this release ?
We need to be able to encrypt communication between our lpar and a monitoring system and also encrypt our telnet and ftp trafic.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.
As you mentioned, this support was provided in recent versions, but not in V5R4.
There is a technical reason this enhancement cannot be ported back to IBM i 5.4.
In order for the import certificate code to validate the validity time frame when the expiration date goes beyond January 2038, a 64-bit time variable needs to be used. The variable type (time64_t) and all the system level functions that use that variable type do not exist in the compilers for IBM i 5.4.
I would suggest sending a response to the Certificate Authority (CA) that issued your certificate and request new certificates that expire before 2038 so they can be used on V5R4.
