DB2 multi dimensional JSON result set

Today an SQL SELECT with JOIN result set for the Node.js database driver is returned as flat JSON rows with many column values repeated (as expected). This then requires massaging before being sent to the browser for easy consumption. You can see an effort of doing this in the following URL, though they moved the JOIN to the WHERE clause:

https://jsao.io/2015/07/relational-to-json-with-node-js/

Use Case:

Current JSON result set with repeating data:
[
{"id":10,"dept_name":"Admin","emp_id":100,"emp_name":"Joe Whalen"},
{"id":10,"dept_name":"Admin","emp_id":110,"emp_name":"Julie Baker"},
{"id":20,"dept_name":"Sales","emp_id":200,"emp_name":"Happy Mary Benson"},
{"id":20,"dept_name":"Sales","emp_id":210,"emp_name":"Greg Booly"}
]

Desired JSON result set without repeating data:
[
{
"id":10,"dept_name":"Admin",
"employees": [
{"emp_id":100,"emp_name":"Joe Whalen"},
{"emp_id":110,"emp_name":"Julie Baker"}
]
},
{
"id":20,"dept_name":"Sales",
"employees": [
{"emp_id":200,"emp_name":"Happy Mary Benson"},
{"emp_id":210,"emp_name":"Greg Booly"}
]
}
]

    Delivered via JSON publishing functions such as JSON_ARRAYAGG().

    I've found a work-around with the join-js(n1) npm. This takes an approach that maps the JSON result set to a new JSON object. I'd imagine an implementation for this requirement would be similar. Obviously join-js only helps Node.js and not other server-side langs.
