Access Client Solutions - Log on using Windows userId and password

In Client Access we had the possibility to tell it that it should use Windows userId and password
to log on the as/400. This is not possible in Access Client Solutions (ACS). The first time you start
ACS you are prompted for both userId and password. We would like to have the option that ACS uses the
Windows userId and password.

Kerberos is not an option.

Use Case:

Reduce number of users disabled by giving wrong passwords.
We have a lot of them in other systems.

The system configuration contains an Connection tab. On this tab, you may specify "Use shared credentials". Select that for each system that have the same uid/pw. Now the user should only be prompted once after logging in to the PC.

If you would like to avoid prompting even that one time after logging in, you can set up a .netrc file in the users home directory (_netrc on Windows) where the system, id and password are specified. The user will need to update the password in this file whenever the password changes.
