BRMS Track changed objects since last save VS scan

We have a customer with 18 million objects in the IFS- the customer does incremental saves for the IFS and they still run 30+ hours on LTO6. On a daily basis- very little data changes, but the system scans the entire IFS to find the objects that are to be included in the save. If the system/BRMS were to journal a list of the objects that have been modified, it could reduce the backup window by hours.

Use Case:

significantly reduced backup windows and improved performance.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your request. After careful consideration and taking in to account the low RFE votes, we know that we cannot deliver your requested enhancement soon, so it is being declined.

This RFE is still being considered for a future enhancement, but because it is lower priority it has not yet been completed.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. The CAAC agrees with the problem, but recognizes that IBM may address this issue in some other way than what was suggested by the submitter.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
