DB2 Web Query - Allow "Edit in Text Editor" feature to be used by non-admin

Allow the security regarding the ability to edit reports and other web query objects in text editor to be granted to web query developers. Currently this is only available to the web query admin. In order to solve certain issues that occur from time to time we have to resort to text editor. Whenever we make subsequent changes to the report the text editor changes are eliminated and have to be manually re-entered. This requires the developer to notify the WQ Admin and wait for him to make a change that is really part of the development process.

Use Case:

Two cases we have are enabling a CSV format and reducing the width of a large character field and wrapping the text. Anytime a query with these edits is changed the text edits have to be made again.

IBM prefers to limit text editing and instead promote additional capabilities in the editors. Text editing can readily result in a corrupted report, especially for non-admin users. We will continue to look to enhance the editors to externalize more capabilities.

The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature.

Background: The CEAC members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT
