CL Command to control Database Statistics

The Update Statistics Collections (QDBSTUS, QdbstUpdateStatistics) API has a way to set the "block system statistics collections option" -- I would like a simple way to do this through CL (either a new command or an enhancement to CHGPF). If a new command, the ability to apply to all of the tables in a single library would be ideal.

Use Case:

Batch processes that use work tables and/or import large amounts of data frequently cause many requests to refresh statistics collection while they are running. We would like to be able to pause statistics before running certain steps of processes that will insert a lot of data, and resume them afterwards. This is especially a problem when we run the data conversion for a new customer, which might involve numerous steps that each load thousands or millions of rows.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.

While turning off database statistics can be useful in some situations, it is generally discouraged due to potential database performance issues if not done correctly.

The cost of providing this enhancement would benefit a very small set of customers. It has the potential to be misused, causing serious problems, by many others. For this reason, the request is being declined.
