This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

When custom snippets are created to be used with RPG source by cutting and pasting from correct templates and variables are added to replace the template input, the snippet does not correctly space keyword parameter lines in fixed format lines (like D-specs). Also if the parameter name is longer than the placeholder, the spacing for the keyword parameter is wrong.
The lack of RPG-specific column divisions cause the editor to issue errors when the snippet is inserted into the source.
(See the attached screen shot for each of the situations.)
Snippets are provided as a help to coding. If this doesn't work for RPG then no one will use it.
Currently, we have a lot of AIX COBOL snippets, but not many IBM i RPG snippets.

This RFE has been re-evaluated. Due to the relatively low number of votes, this RFE is now being declined.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems
This RFE will be under consideration for a future release. Status has been updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
Personally I don't see why this would be required when a developer can use the elipses to handle the D spec issue. I would be more interested in having snippets past into with all the spacing intact.
This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
