IBM i web services server allow update of rest web service parameters

I'm investigating creating rest web services on the iseries using the IBM web administrator for i, Applications server tab. I did a tutorial that created a student rest web service and got it working after several delete/recreates (I had a space on one of the parameters). This tool doesn't seem to me to be useable without being able to modify parameters. The only way is to delete the web service and recreate it from scratch. Are there plans to enhance this tool?

Use Case:

We have a web application that needs sales order information that exists in various tables like header, parts, comments, shipping table etc. The web app would like to call a web service and get this infomation back in a json page. Developing his using the web services server on the iseries would require numerious changes to the web services parameters during the development process. It would be very tedious to have to recreate the web service from scratch each time a change is needed.

The ability to redeploy web services without having to uninstall the we service has been released for IBM i 7.2 and i 7.3. For further information, go to the web site[1] and click on the Technology Updates link at the end of the web page.

I'm glad to see this RFE accepted for a future release.

In the meantime Daryl @adriansteel, there are many options you can use to prototype your web services on IBM i. Contact me on LinkedIn if you want to discuss some possibilities.

IBM agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. IBM intends to provide a solution. However, IBM's plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
