This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Wouldn't it be nice, if DB2 for i would provide an EXPORT statement, which would generate export streamfiles similar to CPYTOIMPF.
e.g. something like
EXPORT (SELECT HOST_NAME, PARTITION_ID, NUMBER_OF_PARTITIONS FROM QSYS2.SYSTEM_STATUS_INFO) TO '/tmp/partinfo.csv'
with optional parms to control field, string and line separators as well as the codepage. Column labels in *SQL format should be default.
We often have to ask customers about system information which is available meanwhile in many DB2 services. Output can be wide and difficult to handle, so to preserve the contents one could create an output file from it which the customer would need to sav to a savf and ftp to his PC in order to send it to us. On our end we again need to restore the savf and look into the table with any sql interface.
Would be much simpler with just one sql command that generates the csv file which then could be retrieved with e.g. a netshare and sent to us.
Result can be easily looked at with an editor or spreadsheet.

Hi,
EXPORT is not common nor standard.
Instead of using EXPORT, we recommend the use of the QSYS2.QCMDEXC() procedure and the CPYTOIMPF command.
CPYTOIMPF also has been enhanced to have more user controls.
We recommend that IBM i clients reconsider using CPYTOIMPF for this use case.
I'm including links to enhancements for your information.
