Make Debug Server TCP endpoints available to the public

Terminology may be incorrect as not enough information is publicly available at the moment.

Please allow connections to the Debug Server so debug sessions can be started remotely.

It would be awesome if it could be well documented and language-agnostic.

E.g starting a debug session, setting breakpoints, starting the program or hooking into a job, response when breakpoints are reached, variable monitoring, current call stack, etc

Use Case:

I am trying to create an open-source editor for ILE applications and one of the long-term goals is debugging of ILE applications.

This might be possible with an active TCP socket connection to the Debug Server as described or with the Debug Server hosting HTTP endpoints to interact with it.

There are multiple options for interactive Debug today on IBM i, both RDi and Access Client Solutions - ACS (free). Does not make sense to invest in additional debug technology, the APIs while difficult do exist.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed.

The APIs are not easy to work with and do not help much in the open source area.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
