Axis api and binary data

we ask that Axis API be added support for transferring binary and not just text data. The need is to be able to send and receive files in pdf format

Use Case:

Our software uses AXIS transport APIs to communicate with the web services of one of our partners who manages Italian electronic invoicing. we would also need to support binary and not just text transport to send and receive files in pdf format

The RFE has been delivered. The HTTP transport client is able to handle the sending and receiving of binary data. See https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6848167 for more information.

The CAAC has reviewed this Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. Small shops are still using Axis as a transport tool, and would benefit greatly from being able to exploit its capabilities.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual Ideas on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

I would also like to strongly endorse this request. Moreover, it is important that the API set be able to accept a micture of binary and text data whilst building the payload, such that more complex services (e.g. ones which require a Multipart MIME message) can also be supported.

IBM agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. IBM intends to provide a solution. However, IBM's plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
