Upload Multiple Files to Integrated File System in ACS

Currently, to upload or download a file to/from the IFS using Access Client Solutions, you have to go through a host of dialog boxes to accomplish the task. It would be nice to be able to select a file or multiple files and drag and drop them to a certain directory to upload them. The opposite way would be nice as well, you could select and drag and drop files from the IFS folder to a Windows folder or email attachments, or wherever.

Use Case:

This would allow the upload of multiple files to the IFS to go much quicker than having to select each individual one and go through the upload dialog boxes each time.

Out next update will include the capability to select multiple files for an upload (multiple file download is already supported).
We will not be providing drag-n-drop capability between ACS IFS and the PC.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

IBM understands this request and will consider it for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.

The various dailogs for File uploads is to cumbersome and hard to explain to end-users which are now forced to use the web based Navigator instead of the IBM Client Access Navigator.

Replacing a product is fine, but it should a least provide the same functionality.

We already support multiple file download. We are considering supporting multiple file upload. We will not be supporting the request for multiple file drag-n-drop.

I made a network-share using IBM i Netserver to the IFS and map it to a driveletter.

Drag and Drop using Window-Explorer works well for me (in both directions).

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. General observation: "This would be really nice!"
