This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.
Welcome to the IBM Ideas Portal (https://www.ibm.com/ideas) - Use this site to find out additional information and details about the IBM Ideas process and statuses.
IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com) - Use this site to view all of your ideas, create new ideas for any IBM product, or search for ideas across all of IBM.
ideasibm@us.ibm.com - Use this email to suggest enhancements to the Ideas process or request help from IBM for submitting your Ideas.
This functionality already exists... you can set the list format (and other parameters) via the FTP exit program.
back in 2017
IBM_Systems_Developer (IBM) said this could be implemented fairly simply.
"It can be shipped in new CLs. The new CLs provide the capability to configure one user will use the format configured in CHGFTPA, or use IBM I format, or use *UNIX format when the user logs in FTP server."
See this it seems like this could be a great project for a summer intern.
can we please reconsider?
I see the option of which format linked to the user ID like the PASE shell is stored. "qsys2.set_pase_shell_info"
Thank you Bryan Dietz for taking the time to submit your request. However based on the amount of time the RFE has been open and the low number of votes we do not plan to implement this request as there are other higher priority items.
This request is still being considered for a future release.
The CAAC has reviewed this RFE again. More information is needed to increase its priority because this seems to be a low priority "nice to have" function. If it's an Open Source utility running an FTP session with IBM i, can't you just change the script's LISTFMT?

Though the answers are not provided yet. After evaluating, this is a valid requirement. It can be shipped in new CLs. The new CLs provide the capability to configure one user will use the format configured in CHGFTPA, or use IBM I format, or use *UNIX format when the user logs in FTP server.
The CAAC has reviewed this RFE, at the request of IBM, to help assess its priority among the broad set of small- and medium-sized IBM i customers. More information is needed, as stated in a previous comment from Dawn May. Please provide the answers to those questions in order for assessment of this RFE to proceed.

The CAAC looked at this requirement and has some questions:
- Why is the FTP Exit not an option?
- Can you elaborate on the detrimental effects?
- What FTP client is being used?
- Can the SITE LISTFMT subcommand be used after the client logs in?
