IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

BRMS client should not allow sign-in for unauthorized users with class *PGMR

*PGMR users that are not allowed to access BRMS in green screen can successfully sign-in via IBM Navigator for i and access BRMS functions like Restore. With this RFE we request that such users are forbidden BRMS access, since the IBM Navigator for i plugin incorrectly allows the user to see the list of saved items and restore some of them.

Use Case:

A user class *PGMR can manage BRMS from navigator for i. From there one can view the IBM i directories. Access must be able to be restricted same as green screen.

The BRMS team has previously requested more clarifying information. Because the additional information was not provided within 30 days, the request has been closed.

Our apologies for the slow response on this one. We do not understand how your environment is set up. Are you using functional authority in BRMS to control access? Did you open a service request for this issue before creating an RFE. This seems like a problem that should have been reported to service and had a PMR opened instead of an RFE request.

RFE is intended to be English only at this time. Since this RFE was not written in English, there are a number of viewers who will not be able to easily understand and decide whether to add to the votes for this requirement. We intend to change this RFE so that it has an English translation, and is more specific to IBM development's understanding of the problem. Please add a comment if you believe the English translation is not accurate enough, and we can adjust it further.

We need more information to be able to evaluate this request. We have reviewed the BRMS PMR 23991,000,661 and it looks like it was closed with no further questions. Are you asking for a specific change in the BRMS function usage behavior? Please provide more specific details behind this request.
