SOAP 1.2 for Webservice Client

IBM i - Webservice Client

Translation to English:

The connection of our DMS (Dealer Management System) to Daimler's B2B portal is based on the exchange of SOAP 1.2 documents via web service. IBM i supports only SOAP 1.1 in the web service client area; in particular, the creation of stub service programs via the "WSDL2RPG.sh" utility via QSH fails.

Use Case:

The CAAC has reviewed this Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. With Web Services being so prevalent in the community and their business partners, and SOAP being a part of that, keeping up with newer versions is needed.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual Ideas on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

Text in this Idea has been updated by IBM. In particular, English Translation was done for the Title and Description to allow others to understand and vote more easily.

IBM agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. IBM intends to provide a solution. However, IBM's plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.

In the meantime, you can generate any type of requests programmatically via the client transport APIs, discussed in this article[1].

This RFE's Headline was changed after submission to reflect the headline of an internal request we were already considering, but will now track here.
