Add "For System Name" clause to "Create Sequence"

We commonly use database sequences in DB2 for i for unique counters in our applications which are created with a "create sequence" statement. DB2 also allows for the use of long names with sequences similar to other database objects.

However, the long object names get truncated to 10 digits when creating system objects. A "for system name" clause should be added to the "create sequence" statement in order to specify the system object name when the sequence name is longer than 10 digits.

Use Case:

System: IBM i database management
Actor: Developer/DBA/Sys Admin

Use case:
Create DB2 sequence

The FOR SYSTEM NAME clause was added to the CREATE SEQUENCE statement. This change was delivered in fall 2020 with IBM i 7.4 PTF Group level 10 and IBM i 7.3 PTF Group level 22.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
