Request an alternate SMTP Banner for native mail server

When using native SMTP services to send mail from our ERP application, we have SMTP bound to a it's own IP address. That IP address and name resides in the local host table. However, when using DNS tools to validate the server on the Internet, a warning error displays indicating the SMTP Banner does not match the reverse DNS entry. The warning indicates it could cause mail to be considered spam. My request would be that the banner would match the local host table entry.

Use Case:

The server is identified with CFGTCP option 12 as
mar.mycompany.com.
The IP address of the SMTP services in the local host table is
smtp.mycompany.com
The public DNS name for the server is
smtp.mycompany.com
When the recipient server initiates it's helo to our server, it receives the reply from
mar.mycompany.com not smtp.mycompany.com

I assume customer is using *SMTP directory service.

SMTP did not use the local host table to return the SMTP banner. For each entry in the local host table, an IP address can have several names. So, SMTP introduced it's own table to map the IP-address to a specific domain name.
Below is the steps to enable this feature on IBM I 7.2 and later release.
    1. enable interface/domain association by CHGSMTPA
    CHGSMTPA IFCDMN(*LIST)
    2. add the map to *DOMAIN list entry
    ADDSMTPLE TYPE(*DOMAIN) INTNETADR('SPECIFIC-LOCAL-IP-ADDRESS') HOSTNAME(YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME)
If the system has several IPs, and want to use the same domain name, it is required to add all the IPs to the list entry.

With these configurations, the SMTP will change the banner to the specific domain name configured in the *DOMAIN list entry.

Can this feature satisfy your requirement ?
