This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Here we have the ability to download spooled files from IBM i. The default for drag and drop is to drop a .pdf to the desktop. You can right click for menu to display or download but you cannot select the format.
There is an option to download them as text documents but it is neither obvious or simple. To do this the user must select "Edit" -> "Preferences" and then UnCheck the box "Use PDF format if available." Next click OK to close the window.
Now the user will get .txt files with drag and drop as well as in the right click menu.
What we need is an option on the right click menu to 'download as text' as well as 'view as text'.
IBM Support gets rather cranky when joblogs and especially communications traces are sent in in pdf format. In addition even admins searching and viewing them is often simpler than pdf.
The process for switching back and forth is too clumsy.

The following support is now available in version 1.1.7.3 dated February 2018:
A "Download..." option is now available which will allow preferences to be changed for the current download.
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature.
The IBM "Must Gather Tools" has the option to upload data directly to IBM and can be used to send the data in the format needed by IBM.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
